Picture this: you're making a YouTube video about social media growth, and you need an example profile to walk through. You don't want to use a real person's page. You don't want to blur anything out. You just need a clean, realistic Instagram profile screenshot you can build yourself in two minutes and own completely.

Everything a Fake Instagram Profile Needs — Built Right Here

This is a free browser-based tool for generating a completely customizable Instagram profile page mockup. No design software, no Photoshop, no registration. You control everything — the username, bio, follower counts, post grid, story highlights, verified badge — and download a high-resolution PNG in seconds.

The output looks like a real Instagram profile because every detail is accurate: the exact stats layout, the gradient story ring, the correct button states (Follow vs. Following), the story highlight circles with labels, the post grid with video and carousel badges, and the bottom navigation bar. Dark mode renders with pure black — not dark grey — the way Instagram actually does it.

What You Can Actually Edit in This Generator

Username and display name separately. Just like the real app, you set the @username (shown in the header and handle rows) independently from the display name (shown in bold below the avatar). Makes it easy to build a persona with a clean handle and a full name.

Bio, category, and website. The bio supports line breaks — you can use emoji, multiple lines, collab contact info, whatever you'd want to see on an actual creator profile. The category label (like "Content Creator," "Photographer," "Public Figure") appears in muted text under the display name, exactly where Instagram shows it. Website renders in Instagram blue below the bio.

Post count, followers, following. Type any number — formatted exactly as you want it. "892K," "1.2M," "248" — whatever fits the fictional audience size you're building. The stats show the same bold/label layout Instagram uses.

Verified badge. Toggle it on or off. The blue Instagram checkmark appears next to the username in the header — same position and sizing as the app.

Story ring. Toggle the gradient story ring around the profile avatar. When enabled, the avatar gets the signature orange-to-pink-to-purple gradient border — the same one you see on accounts with active stories. The inner ring gap adjusts for dark and light mode.

Follow / Following state. Toggle whether the viewer is already following this account. Following state shows grey "Following" + "Message" + chevron buttons. Not-following state shows the blue "Follow" button. Both are pixel-accurate.

Post grid. The left panel lets you build the 3-column grid. Add posts by URL or upload images directly from your device. Mark individual posts as Videos (shows the play icon badge) or Carousels (shows the multi-image badge). Reorder posts with the arrow buttons. Remove any post individually.

Story highlights. Add up to as many highlights as you want — each with a name label and an optional cover image (URL or upload). They render as circular thumbnails with labels in the horizontal scroll row below the action buttons, exactly where Instagram places them.

Dark mode, status bar, battery, network. Switch the phone preview between true black dark mode and white light mode independently of your site's dark mode. Set the clock time in the status bar, pick from WiFi / 4G / 5G, and slide the battery percentage from 5 to 100 — with the red battery indicator kicking in at 20% and below.

Making Your Profile Screenshot Actually Look Real

A few small details separate a convincing profile mockup from one that looks obviously fake. Here's what matters most:

  • Consistent theme across posts. The most convincing grids have a visual style running through them — similar color tones, consistent lighting, or a recurring subject. Random mismatched images will look odd. Pick a niche (travel, food, fashion) and use photos that feel cohesive.
  • Follower counts that match the bio. A creator with "892K followers" probably has a specific niche bio and a website. An account with "1,247 followers" probably reads more personal. Make the numbers match the persona.
  • Bio line breaks = authenticity. Real Instagram bios often use multiple lines, each serving a purpose: name/title, location, CTA, link. A single-line bio or an overly long paragraph looks off. Three to four lines with emoji works best.
  • The status bar time. Noon or early morning timestamps on a screenshot feel more natural than 3:47 AM. Small detail, but people notice.
  • Story highlights matching the niche. If you set a travel creator profile, highlights called "Travel," "Food," "Hotels," and "NYC" read naturally. Generic highlights like "Highlight 1" break immersion immediately.

Who Uses the Instagram Profile Generator

YouTubers and video editors — Tutorial videos, explainer content, and "anatomy of a great Instagram profile" videos all need example profiles. Using this lets creators build exactly the right example without exposing a real account or struggling for hours in a design tool.

Social media managers and agencies — Client pitch decks, profile audits, and "before/after" concept presentations are easier to build when you can mock up a revised profile page in two minutes. Load your client's real stats, swap in a better bio, and show them what it could look like.

Teachers and workshop facilitators — Social media courses, influencer marketing classes, and digital media workshops often need neutral example profiles that don't belong to real students or public figures. A fictional account with realistic-looking stats serves the lesson without the privacy awkwardness.

Writers and storytellers — Novels, scripts, and podcasts set in the present day increasingly feature social media as a story element. A fake Instagram profile screenshot used in a presentation or book gives readers immediate visual context without recreating the real platform from scratch.

Keep this in mind: this tool is for creative, educational, and professional mockup purposes. Do not use generated profiles to impersonate real people, fabricate follower counts as proof of something, or build fake credibility for a misleading promotion. Use it honestly.

Three Minutes, Step by Step

  1. Hit "Load Demo" first. See what a finished profile looks like before you start editing. This gives you a reference point for how each section should be filled in.
  2. Fill in the Settings panel (right side). Username, display name, bio, website, category. Upload a profile photo or paste an image URL. Set the follower/post counts. Toggle verified, story ring, and following as needed.
  3. Build the post grid (left panel). Paste image URLs or upload photos — up to 9 fills the visible grid. Mark any post as Video or Carousel to show the correct badge overlay in the corner.
  4. Add highlights. Type a highlight name, optionally add a cover image, and click "Add Highlight." These appear as the circles row in the phone preview. Rename or delete any highlight at any point.
  5. Choose dark or light theme and set the status bar time, network, and battery to match the mood you're going for.
  6. Download. "Download with Frame" gives you the full iPhone mockup. "Download without Frame" gives you just the profile screen — useful for embedding in videos or presentations where you want to control the border yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this tool cost anything?

Nothing. All features — profile editing, post grid, highlights, exports, dark mode — are completely free. No account, no subscription, no per-download fee. Both download buttons work without any paywall.

How many posts can I add to the grid?

There's no hard limit, but Instagram's visible grid typically shows 9 posts (3 rows of 3). Adding exactly 9 posts fills the grid cleanly for a screenshot. You can add more if you want the grid to scroll — the export captures everything.

Can I upload images from my device?

Yes — both the profile photo and every post in the grid support direct upload from your device. Click the Upload button next to any image field. The file is read locally in your browser and never sent to any server.

What's the difference between "Download with Frame" and "Download without Frame"?

Download with Frame exports the full iPhone shell — black border, status bar at top, home indicator at the bottom. Good for social media mockup content and presentations. Download without Frame is just the profile screen with no phone border — useful when you're overlaying the image in a video or want to crop the output yourself.

Is the data I enter saved anywhere?

No. Everything you type, upload, and configure lives only in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to any server. Close the tab and it's gone — there's no account or database involved.

Can I show a private account?

The current generator renders a public-style profile with a visible post grid. A "private account" state (where the grid is locked and shows a lock message) is a good enhancement suggestion. For now, you can simulate it visually by leaving the post grid empty — the grid area will show blank placeholder squares, which approximates the private view.
